Mini-Circuits Provides Groundbreaking Support for Business in Malaysia
August 16, 2011 — Mini-Circuits is leading efforts to assist and nurture small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Penang, Malaysia. Last May, after years of personal involvement, Dato' Seri Kelvin Kiew, President and CEO of Mini-Circuits Technologies Malaysia, joined Penang Chief Minister YB Tuan Lim Guan Eng in breaking ground for the Penang SME Center.
The SME Center will offer technological infrastructure, and nominal rent, to help incubate and develop new companies in Penang. Perhaps most important, these growing companies will be mentored by members of the Penang Science Council, led by Mini-Circuits, Motorola, Intel, B Braun, the Malaysian American Electronics Industry, other high-tech companies, and local educational institutions.
"We're passionate about it...we became successful because of Penang. It's our way to return something," Dato' Seri Kiew said. He will continue giving back as a manager when the center opens next year, in partnership with members of the Penang Development Council and InvestPenang. Mini-Circuits is proud of his leadership, as he carries our Brooklyn tradition of community involvement to the rest of the world that our members call home.
